Instructor and Course Evaluation

I like to think that I work hard at making this class as "student-centered" and effective as possible. I realize, however, that as a student in the class, you might not find it to be as good as I think it is?

Therefore, inspired by the March 29, 2012 New York Times article, "Feedback From Students Becomes Campus Staple, but Some Go Further," I'll be offering you the opportunity to provide feed back on this class every two to three weeks through the end of the semester.

I'll be asking the following questions:

How can I (Terry) improve your learning of the material presented in GWYE?

Have I (Terry) improved my teaching since the last evaluation opportunity?

Have I (Terry) incorporated suggestions you offered in your previous evaluation?

How can I (Terry) change the way I teach this class to improve your understanding of the material and concepts presented?

Please offer any other comments, suggestions, etc.

I'll pass out an evaluation sheet at roughly two week intervals for you to complete at your convenience, or not at all - it's completely up to you. Please do not sign it (unless you want to) and slide it under the door of Illick 513 (the greenhouse storeroom). You can also download a blank form should you be inspired to provide comments at another time.

I'll post all comments (the good, the bad, and the ugly) below for all to see. I will also offer responses to comments whenever I can provide clarification, propose solutions to concerns, etc. My thinking is that this will provide a glimpse into efforts I am making throughout the semester to improve your learning experience.

My goals are to become the very best teacher I can be and for this class to consistently exceed your expectations.

I welcome your help in this journey.
